Never leave a candle burning unattended.

It is sometimes forgotten about the atmospheric light of the candles that the flame is an open fire. You should therefore handle candles with care, ensure that they are in a safe and stable position and, above all, never leave them unattended. If you follow these instructions for burning candles, you will enjoy our products.

Burning instructions

In addition to the basic rules for burning candles, there are also various pictograms. You can usually find them on the packaging – below we explain the most common pictograms and their meaning.

Our tips for frequently asked questions

The candle smokes, why is that?

This can have various causes, but mostly the wick is simply too long. If this is the case, extinguish the candle by dipping the wick in the liquid wax and straightening it up again. Shorten the wick to about 1 cm in length. It also happens that the wick clogs, e.g. B. from broken matches or other contaminants. Then usually a stamp forms at its end, a thickening. Again, you should carefully shorten the wick and cut off the thickening.

Flickering flame – what to do?

Flickering flames are usually caused by burner bowls that are too deep. If the candle has a rim more than 1 cm high, extinguish the candle by dipping the wick in the liquid wax and straightening it up straight away. Then cut off the excess wax rim with a knife – but be careful because the liquid wax in the burner bowl is very hot and can cause burns. Cut off so much that there is enough edge to hold the liquid wax.

The candle runs out!

Drafts are almost always involved here: the candle flame should burn steadily. Even with only a light draft, the flame starts to dance back and forth. The burning bowl expands beyond the correct size until the liquid wax can no longer be held off the edge and runs out. However, too small and narrow vessels can also cause candles to leak. The heat of the flame is reflected and also heats the candle from the outside, so that the important edge can no longer hold the liquid wax.
